About CandeiasGrupo Candeias, from Brazil, is one of the world’s biggest Capoeira organizations, with over 10,000 students and schools in Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, USA, Spain, France, Italy, Czech Republic and Ireland.In Grupo Candeias we practise and teach many types of Capoeira, songs and musical instruments of Capoeira, Maculele (a dance with sticks or machetes), and traditional Brazilian dances such as Samba and Danca Guerreira (Warrior’s Dance).
Mestre Suino (Elto Pereira de Brito) founded Grupo Candeias in 1977. A graduate in Physical Education and post-graduate in Teaching Physical Education, Mestre Suino is always seeking ways to improve the standard of his teachers and students and encouraging the study of Capoeiras folklore and history. He has written three books; Fundamentos da Capoeira, No Caminho do Mestre and Capoeira e Religiao.
Candeias in IrelandGrupo Candeias was first founded in Ireland in Roscommon when Instrutor Pele began to teach classes in 2001. Mestre Piau and Professor Mola arrived in the Summer 2003 and the group has quickly grown, with Instrutor Gaucho joining from his own Galway based capoeira school in October 2003.
Mestre Piau has been learning Capoeira for 20 years and is teaching Capoeira in Limerick.
Contra Mestre Mola, from Goiania in central Brazil lives and teaches in Galway. He began learning Capoeira over 15 years ago. We are pleased to congratulate Mola and Lisa on the birth of their son, Leon!
Pele is the founder of Grupo Candeias in Ireland. He teaches capoeira in Dublin, where he lives with his girlfriend Leidiane.
Tatu teaches in Ennis. Congratulations to him on his recent formatura to professor!
Raul is from southern Brazil and has been living in Ireland since 2000. He lives and teaches in Cork, and always takes an interest in his students’ welfare, inside and outside of the classroom. |
